Larry Guerra shooting his home-made Flintlock
Got this recently from Larry:
"To all, my SIL Shawn and I went to the Missouri Territorial ML shoot last month, hosted by Fort Osage Muzzleloaders. The Fort Osage ML photographer took this neat shot."
A recent classmate/friends gathering in Omaha
This from Fitz:
"The gathering was a Covid 19 breakout and also to meet with Jim Sledge especially. His wife Rosie passed away August 15, 2020 and due to Covid this was the first gathering. Mike O' Doherty was also invited but due to his suffering from COPD was not able to attend."
Fitz' email made me remember recently finding some old 8mm film of Jim, Mike and others.

Saw this in the Cathedral Chimes
Pat Venditte was inducted into the Metro Omaha Softball Hall of Fame in November. The legendary catcher is the father of Pat Venditte Jr., the “switch pitcher” who is in the major leagues with the Seattle Mariners. Pat Sr. also entered the Omaha Oldtimers Baseball Association Hall of Fame in May.
The elder Venditte made a name for himself during his nearly 40-year career in men’s fast pitch softball — which is still ongoing — earning a reputation as one of the finest catchers to ever play the game. He had an uncanny sense of the game and few could match his overall physical skills to hit, run and throw.
He was the mainstay of the old Westside Chapel team for almost 30 years, often leading the team in numerous statistical categories — including batting average, doubles, stolen bases, walks and sacrifice bunts.
From 1977-80, Venditte served as a Nebraska state senator representing the south Omaha “Little Italy” district where he still resides.

Got this from Margie Dowell Conahan:
"Great idea to feature good news as well as obits. I was shocked to visit the page with all of the deceased. It brought back so many memories. So many characters in our class—good people. Since I did not actually graduate from Cathedral I feel a little removed from all of you that did. I think of Cathedral and everyone often."
"Joe and I are both enjoying good health, both semi retired and we are anxiously awaiting the birth of our 9th grandchild. Travel consists mostly of visiting kids and siblings."
"I had planned on attending the 50th reunion but it conflicted with a family reunion. I hope to plan better for the 55th."
Editor's Note: She didn't. :(
Here's an update from one of our World Traveling classmates, Joyce Casey Smith:
"Here are some pictures from our latest adventures in Africa and China. Everywhere we have traveled I am reminded of how much we take for granted each day and how very blessed we are living in our country."
China
"During the two weeks in China, we traveled to many amazing cultural heritage sites. However, meeting the people was most memorable. Everyone in big cities spoke English... even preschooler ages 3-5 yrs. People were very proud of their country and very dedicated to educating their children well. In fact, teachers are one of the higher paid professions."

We visited a Maasai school and village. The Maasai are nomads, moving to graze their cattle. The people were friendly, happy, and many spoke some English, though their main language is Swahili."
